Why this page exists
If a site compares products or services, it owes you the criteria. This page is that disclosure. If anything on this site does not follow what is written here, it is wrong and we want to know.
How we choose what to cover
We cover the questions people actually ask about this subject, prioritised by how consequential the decision is and how badly it is served elsewhere. We do not choose topics by what pays best.
How comparisons are ordered
Comparison tables are ordered by the stated criterion for that table, never by what we are paid. Where an entry is a commercial partner it carries a visible Sponsored or Partner label and is styled differently from editorial content. We do not describe a partnership that does not exist, and where a category has no partner we say so rather than filling the gap.
What we can and cannot assess
We can explain what a category of product does, what an ingredient is for, what a service involves, and what genuinely differs between two options. We cannot test efficacy, we do not run laboratory analysis, and we do not know how a formulation will behave on your skin or hair. Where a claim depends on concentration, formulation or pH — which are rarely disclosed — we say that rather than pretending the ingredient list settles it.
How the tools work
Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is transmitted, stored or logged. Each one shows the assumptions it depends on and a plain statement of what it does not account for. Tools that ask about your skin, hair or scalp return an orientation and a professional-referral note — never a diagnosis — because a website cannot see you.
How we handle claims we cannot support
We write around them. If a performance figure, ingredient claim, price, availability or certification cannot be sourced and kept current, it does not appear as a fact — we explain the mechanism instead and point you to the source for the specific number.
Review and updates
Pages are reviewed on a rolling basis and after any material change to the underlying guidance. Corrections are made in place and, where material, noted on the page.
